We got up early and made our way to the Musee D'Orsay in hopes of beating the queues. Sure enough we were able to walk straight in to the Museum and we spent a delightful couple of hours enjoying the paintings and sculptures of some of the world's best artists. We especially liked Van Gogh, Monet, Pissaro and Renoir. It's a funny thing standing in front of a painting you studied at school or have seen reproduced so many times.
After our eyes and feet were all worn out we had a gentle stroll along the Seine in the warm autumn sunshine and then back through the Jardin de Tuileries to find some lunch. We found a busy French cafe run by Japanese ladies where we had Jambon boisson followed by some divine eclairs and choux puffs. We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping but unfortunately they don't sell the elastic waist trousers here, so we will have a look in Rome.
