Rome day 2

After a good sleep we went exploring today.  The Trevi fountain and the Spanish Steps are only 10 mins walk from our hotel but we kept getting lost and then getting sidetracked by churches, and fountains, and monuments, and markets, and shoe shops....... so it took us all day to see the fountain and the steps.  We thought we had seen the Pantheon as well but when we Googled it we realised that the big old thing that we saw wasn't the Pantheon!  So now we will have to find the Pantheon tomorrow instead.

not a promising exterior for a church but we ventured inside anyway
inside the church was really beautiful

really beautiful and really large!

ornate carving in the church pillars

this fellow was on the side of the road pouring lovely clear water into a bath

This fellow and three of his mates poured out drinking water at the corners of the next intersection

this grumpy lady was looking down over the next Piazza

miscellaneous fountain with statuary at the next intersection

The Trevi Fountain at last- 3 hours for a 3 minute walk

Trevi Fountain

Every man and his dog has come to take a picture at the fountain

The underwhelming Spanish Steps

Not the Pantheon

Who's house is it behind the Trevi Fountain? you'd want to be sure you had the curtains drawn when you were getting dressed in the morning, wouldn't you!
